The mayor won't cut NYPD post by Suzannah B. Troy

The mayor of New York, Mike Bloomberg, a man  many consider the developer's mayor, not the peoples', has come to his senses, in the dollar and sense nightmare of an economic meltdown and massive lay-offs and cuts to come and the NYPD are no longer on the chopping block.

Could you imagine if there was an APP on your phone to report suspicious packages, vehicles, etc. like the MTA ad campaign that the hero t-shirt vendor, Viet Nam Vet, Lance Orton actually quoted and followed to the T.  It would be faster than 911 and you can send photos or in the case of the car parked in time square even run you phone over the registration code in the window like traffic ticketing police do.  There is an APP for everything on state of the art phones these days, why not one for fighting terror attacks?

That is good to hear but the bottom line is the NYPD is the smallest it has ever been in NYC's history policing the largest NYC population ever so we don't need cuts but we also need more NYPD and high tech equipment with the tech- training to accompany preventing further terrorist attacks here in NYC.

Last night Notify NYC, the text messaging program I signed up for reported, "Due to police activity the RFK/Tri-Boro Bridge is closed in both directions.  This morning I read in The New York Daily News that the police where investigating an abandoned u-haul.  Drivers reported seeing a man flee.  The Bomb Squad responded and X-rayed the u-haul and it was empty.

The NY Daily News has more background information on the Time Square Bomber and like the WTC bombers he had his share of disappointments and anger over U.S. policies in the middle east but as I recall the bombers that carried out suicide missions were upper middle to wealthy and had problems with women and spent their last night in a strip club.  Shahzad the Time Square Bomber never intended to blow himself up and it is clear he did not come from poverty but also comfort.  He is married and has a young daughter and The Daily News says they are possible in protective custody.

Everyone this time around is safe but this was a wake-up call and it is clear NYC needs more funding from Washington, D.C. if we are going to continue to try and stop attacks here in NYC.  Here is my YouTube I made yesterday The Time Square Bomber Sings & New York holds up tin cup to The White House for Federal Funding.

Times Square Bomber sings post by Suzannah B. Troy

The Time Square bomber Faisal Shahzad is being cooperative with investigators and is a treasure trove of information as was the trail he left.

There are many questions that of course leave New Yorkers wondering for instance how did he buy a one way ticket in cash and even get on an airplane to Dubai let alone anywhere else.  Remember Sept. 11, the 2nd terrorist attack at the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan?  Apparently the person who took his money did not remember Sept. 11 or to check the no fly list which supposedly his name had been entered on that morning.  When someone purchases a one way ticket  to Dubai no less it is certainly a red light...yes? It was also reported he had a gun in his car parked in the lot of the airport.  How did he purchase that gun?

I am an artist and I consider my life performance art.  I am an emotional nudist.  I let it all hang out and usually like a stand up comic.  Example: When mayor Mike Bloomberg says "progress" he means get the moving van!  When I read The New York Times front page article on the trail Faisal Shahzad left, I could not help feeling alarmed as in "TMI"...TOO MUCH INFORMATION!!!!  I am glad the powers that be held back just a little but does the press really need access to almost all inside information to share with us and the terrorists reading these articles?

In the meantime New York City apparently is the hot spot for terror attacks and wannabe terrorists eager to make a name for themselves like a serial killers on a bigger scale but we, NYC,  can't seem to get the support of The White House for the Federal funding that we have more than proven with how many thousands of people mass murdered, destruction of Lower Manhattan yet to be rebuilt  and I will leave out the economy because here in NYC, I blame that collapse of our economy on the greed, stupidity and arrogance of Wall Street and the mayor's reckless equally arrogant, greedy, reckless tsunami of community crushing development along with some of the greediest, arrogant self serving politicians that are suppose to be representing the people of New York rather than their self serving agendas and egos.

One example currently in play is the fact Albany has still not balanced the budget which was suppose to be done April 1.  The accusations that Pedro Espada has stolen $14 million dollars of tax payer money, and the successfully prosecution of one city council member Miguel Martinez, Larry Seabrook's senior staff and Kendall Stewar's  for stealing tax payer and on going investigation in to some city council members that I am praying will bring high profile arrests at City Hall.  I can't blame the terrorist for the bad economy -- that is self-inflicted.

The Time Square bomber is singing and that is good but The White House has to wake up and give NYC, the number one hot spot, the support we need.

NY from terrorism to budget catastrophe post by Suzannah B. Troy

There are many unanswered questions that arise with the news the terror suspect has been arrested and so far he says he acted alone.  The NYPD foiled his primitive attempt and the fast action that lead to doing so was the most primitive action in fighting terrorism, not high tech equipment but two humble T-shirt vendors that happen to also be Viet Nam Vets.

So why doesn't NYC have more federal money to fight terrorism?  NYC has had two terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center and it is clear we are a target.  These issues evoke a lot of unanswered questions....

Ditto for the catastrophic budget crisis that seems to be getting little press these days. More unanswered questions.  We may find ourselves in a depression instead of a recession if Albany continues to fail to get their act together.

Also unanswered questions for Mike Bloomberg and two scandals that have touched him...one ever so lightly -- the Steve Rattner Quadrangle pension fund scandal.  Steve Rattner thought by moving Mike's 6 billion dollars out of Quadrangle to a new fund with a new name not released or rather I haven't heard
that Rattner was home free, free from the pension fund scandal.  Instead the scandal like a bomb, blew up on him, solely. or soulless according to the back door dealings and hand washing and he got full blame. Quadrangle disavowed him.  To date Mike Bloomberg has not had a response to this.  Last time I heard one was when Bloomberg was asked if Rattner should have to step down from his job at the White House and Mike said no.   So did President Obama but Rattner was forced to step down although he said it was to spend more time with his family here in NYC.

Steve Rattner is also suppose to be best friends with the owner of The New York Times.  He has many powerful friends and he and his wife a big time fund raisers but still the rules apply to everyone, at least in theory they do.

Lastly, I wish we could go to the DA's website and get up to the minute details on how the investigation in to the mysterious spending the day before Mike Bloomberg bought his third term.  There is the mystery of $750,000 that Mike Bloomberg and his people cannot explain and to a group that did not get legally certified until after the election.  Oops.

There is also a mysterious cyber stalker, identity thief on YouTube that has been harassing me and other YouTubers critical of Mike Bloomberg and his most recent comments are on Bloomberg, NYU and bio-tech even lying and saying I sold out and support Mike Bloomberg and NYU and we know this isn't true.   Will Cy Vance one day be investigating this case as well?  Is this stalker a paid worker hired by Bloomberg's ruthless over paid campaign staff that took obscene amounts of money from Mike Bloomberg only to humiliate the mayor with the most expensive election and he barely won.  Or is this a very lonely sick individual who stalks, harasses and steals people's identities and happens to have the belief of one of his many YouTube names "Bloombergforlife".  Cy, talk to the Queen's Da.  They have the YouTube comments and mail sent to me and others as Tony Avella when the cyber stalker stole Tony Avella's identity and folks, Tony is not a member of the YouTube community.

Bomb Suspect picked up at JFK posted by Suzannah B. Troy

The New York Post has full coverage on the Bomb Suspect being picked up at JFK as well as a photo and article on the teenager who unwittingly sold her car to the suspect.

New Yorkers are breathing a sigh of relief but clearly this only signals that NYC continues to be a terror hot spot and Washington has dropped the ball giving us the funding and support we need.

The front line work to thwart  this cowardly terror attack came from the transit campaign to tell the NYPD if you
see something suspicious and a fast excellent response including by the NYPD Bomb Squad.

President Obama has to do more for New Yorkers.  Many of us were left shaking our heads that he and Mike Bloomberg
did nothing to bail out St. Vincent's where many fire fighters were treated during the terror attacks and ran back
down...where the staff waited for victims to be brought to them and sadly there were not many survivors and here

I am happy the NYPD, FBI and all involved have done such excellent work but this is a time to be humble, have our
feet on the ground and be extra alert because a primitive car bomb was prevented from going off but we are
far from safe.

Also note at the fore front of news should also be the fact Albany has still not balanced the budget and it is
a major catastrophe which means massive cuts and lay-offs that could officially take NY from a
recession to a depression.  See my YouTube interview with Dan Halloran on what happens if Albany does
not get this budget balanced by this summer.

Right now by the way we have the smallest amount of NYPD ever policing the greatest number of New Yorkers,
plus the high volume of people that visit each day for work and tourism which is why we need more
funding and higher technology to keep this city safe but yes I am very upset because we need money for
school programs, homeless, NY's most vulnerable, kids, seniors, etc.

From terrorism to this catastrophic budget crisis New York is even for tough times.   New Yorkers continue to rise
to the challenges....

Time Square Manhole Explosion post by Suzannah B. Troy

Photo from this link and article click on this link but here is my unique take as an artist, activist, New Yorker blogger on a manhole explosion by Times Square a day after the Time Square Bomb Square.
Have you all forgotten the steam pipe explosion by Grand Central?

Read the article and you all know my take on this....welcome to king Mike Bloomberg's hideous new New York where he pushed a way too rapid tsunami of community crushing development on old New York's infrastructure.

We New Yorkers have grown used to the many man hole covers exploding, gas leaks, water main breaks like this one in the East Village where I called tv stations because it looked like the East River came to 2nd Avenue http://www.ny1.com/6-bronx-news-content/69978/east-village-water-main-break-leaves-thousands-without-water.

After since Mike Bloomberg and his reckless socialite mega millionaire city planner Amanda the people's Burden pushed this reckless development for their developer friends street conditions are hellish to down right deadly from explosions to holes so big in the streets and sidewalks it is amazing New Yorkers and visitors do not resemble war causalities and it has nothing to do with terrorism but the reckless stupidity and greedy that drove Wall Street to implosion.

Two Vets Time Square Heroes post by Suzannah B. Troy

Just remember on this blog and from my blog I reported the new owner of The Mercer Hotel tried to sweep vendors of the block and some are Vets like the two hero New Yorkers that alerted the quick thinking NYPD of the suspicious vehicle and their willingness to take action saved lives.

I posted an early piece today and also yesterday how a street vendor and now it turns out it was two men did what we have been instructed to since Sept. 11 through ads in the subways, etc.  if you see something suspicious alert the NYPD and they did just that.  They are Viet Nam Vets so it was second nature to them.

They saved lives and we must remember them and do the same if we see anything that could be a bomb, etc.

Lynn Redgrave dies post by Suzannah B. Troy

I was on the train when I got the text message from 1010 WINS that Lynn Redgrave passed away here in NYC now reported at her home in Connecticut Sunday night. She was surrounded by her family and past at home which is a peaceful and loving way to go after a 7 year battle with breast cancer. One of my all time favorite films is Georgy Girl which if you have not seen, you must!  James Mason is superb as well as the supporting cast. Lynn Redgrave just shines and this somewhat chubby platinum hearted free spirit that the much olderand very rich Mason lusts for. I don't like watching The Oscars for many reasons and one is the winners often are not the most talented but the most popular. I often find myself saying he was robbed, she was robbed and
Lynn Redgrave was robbed of the Oscar for Georgy Girl.
Elizabeth Taylor beat her out for a powerful performance that year but I can't watch Elizabeth's performance
over and over and I can watch Lynn's performance over and over appreciated the subtleness and complexness of
her acting. It does upset me that over the years so many have picked
up Oscars and they did not deserve them. Lynn deserved to have an Oscar and
didn't get one.

Lynn Regrave was a great actress of theatre and film. She had just deeply moved audiences here in NYC. I called Ken Geist , a writer and film expert to break the news and he was heartbroken.. He said a great loss for the Redgrave family and praised her speech to the audience remembering her years at the National Theatre with Noel Coward as spoke -- she impersonated Noel Coward, Maggie Smith and Edith Evans. Ken told mshe did this at Carnegie Hall honoring the Noel Coward Centennial and also last year in her powerful performance at The Manhattan Theatre Club. She was also an advocate for the right for women to breast feed in public and took on CBS. Gloria Allred jumped on board to be her lawyer and than backed out which is hard to believe. It is hard to believe the powers that be would not let her  breast feed on the tv set of "House Calls". It was a long drawn out case and she had to part ways with other law firms but the bottom line is breast feeding Mom's in Hollywood are treated with respect now and honored but the battle took years, cost Lynn Redgrave a lot of money and being a courageous outspoken woman rather than a "barbie doll" makes getting worker harder. People aren't always eager to higher woman that rock the boat Lynn Redgrave had lost her niece, Natasha Richardson last year in a shocking accident that took her young life and cut short the career of another much loved actor in the family dynasty including Natasha's Mom, Vanessa and their father Michael. Lynn and Vanessa's brother died only a short time ago as well so the family has had their share of loses. Rest in peace dear Lynn, a great actor, advocate and I imagine a true friend to anyone lucky enough to call her friend.

Bombing Suspect Caught on Tape post by Suzannah B. Troy

The suspect in The Times Square Bombing has been caught on tape.  Newspapers have printed photos and posted on their websites and remember how the bomber was foiled was because a t-shirt vendor spoke up and notified the NYPD!   The guy who alerted the NYPD did what all the signs in the subways and elsewhere ask us to do and he saved lives.

The NYPD also get highest praise and are clearly working hard getting these images and video footage to the media but the publics response is essential as well and stopping what could have been a tragedy is proof!  Times have changed after Sept. 11 and with the budgetary crisis the NYPD in numbers is at an all time low in terms of policing the largest NYC population ever in NYC history so we need the public to step up, speak up and this is proof it can be done; lives can be saved by speaking up!

Of course a political group claimed responsibility but we won't have real answers until the Time Square Bomber is caught.  For now it is really important people stay alert and if they see anything suspicious to contact the police.

Here again is the NYPD contact info Call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477); Text "TIP577" (plus your message) to "CRIMES" ( 274637); Submit Internet Tips

NY Pension Funds Goldman not delivering "gold" posted by Suzannah B. Troy

  • Goldman Sachs was revealed today in The New York Post for not delivering "gold" when it comes to handling the New York Pension Funds as reported in a scathing piece by one of the post's star reporters Susan Edelman.   I have to laugh because The New York Post tried to push the professional sex worker caught in the Elliot Spitzer scandal as their star columnist and it fell flat and as usual a true dynamo as far as I am concerned is this reporter, Edelman who brought us right inside the NY Public School Rubber Room where teachers were collecting obscene amounts of money and even larger pensions bleeding the tax payers dry for doing nothing.  Thanks to consistently strong reporting by Edelman and her fellow reporters, the Rubber Room is no more!

I happen to catch our mayor Mike Bloomberg at a press conference that lucky for him I can't attend because I don't have a press pass saying something like this -- what will you report on now, now that the Rubber Room is closed?

Well Susan Edelman found something of interest and that is all that glitters is not necessary "Goldman" as in Goldman Sachs.

Also please note for anyone following the Goldman Sachs media nightmare of their top dogs being grilled by senators one face you don't see is ex-top dog aka ex-CEO, Chair of GS Hank Paulson who like many GS alumni go on to top positions in politics.  Like Robert Rubin did for Clinton, Paulson became Secretary of Treasury for Bush.

I hear many whispers or even a very powerful clearly spoken voice in a  YouTube by Debtruth1 who calls Hank Paulson to task and she and her YouTubes are brilliant.   She has an entire series on Goldman Sachs.  http://www.youtube.com/user/debtruth1#p/u  This YouTube link I posted to your left also busts Hank Paulson .

The YouTube below Deb visits "Goldman past" and manages to give Paulson a very hard time!  Deb's YouTubes are brilliant.

I am sure the powers that be at Goldman Sachs headquarters are deep in discussion about how to counter all the bad
press and the newest "bomb" dropped by Susan Edelman about Goldman Sachs's less than shining success on behalf
of the NY pension fund has caught their attention!

Note: Jon Corzine, also an ex-CEO chair of Goldman Sachs, like our royal mayor king Mike Bloobmerg spent an
enormous or should I say obscene amount of money to attempt to win back his seat as governor and the people
of New Jersey sent a powerful message.
Unlike Bloomberg who just squeaked by winning or stealing a third term, Jon Corzine lost.

Donny Moss takes on the mayor, ASPCA & horse carriage trade! post by Suzannah B. Troy

Donny Moss, activist, film maker and the maker of some very powerful YouTubes that have rocked the political scene including "Behind Christine Quinn's Smile" has taken on mayor Mike Bloomberg,
ASPCA, as well as City Council on the reality the horse carriage industry must be banned. By the way he is not alone with world wide support growing and more major cities around the world banning horse drawn carriages.

Donny Moss sent out an email where he wrote this...

"At a public hearing on April 27th, Mayor Bloomberg justified his support of the bill to protect and strengthen NYC's horse-drawn carriage trade by stating that the ASPCA believes the industry is humane. I made a short video so that you can see this perversion of the truth for yourself." Here is the YouTube he sent...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jWz6s6r5f4

Donny asks this important question....

"Why does the ASPCA protect the horse-drawn carriage trade by allowing lawmakers, carriage operators and even a Franciscan monk to (falsely) suggest that the ASPCA supports it? "

The answer is resounding silence.

He also points out that City Council has not done enough to protect horses. He goes on to write.

"Enabled by the ASPCA's refusal to speak out publicly, Mayor Bloomberg and Council Member Christine Quinn held press conferences boldly declaring their support of NYC's carriage trade. Now that they've passed a pro-industry bill, why would either of them address this issue for years to come? The passage of this bill is a MAJOR set back for the horses and the movement to end this inhumane trade."

He urges all of us here in NYC and world wide to keep up the pressure on the ASPCA and political officials. The goal is to ban horse drawn carriages.

2nd Avenue Deli Memories & great food! posted by Suzannah B. Troy

Lynn told me she has the greatest job in the world.  (I have heard that before but only from New York City Firemen, especially long term fire eaters from the old days!)

Remembering Abe......

Lynn credits Abe Lebewohl for the love she has for her job and really for everything she has.  Talk about attitude with gratitude!

Lynn said to me, "Abe was so big hearted."  When she was started working there 17, maybe 18 years ago, she was told she was hired but she had to serve Abe soup first.  For anyone who has not dined at the famous deli you have no idea what an endeavor that is.  All the portions at the 2nd Avenue Deli are huge!!!!!

According to Lynn, Abe still lives...she loves working at the Deli and I get the vibe from her Abe's big hearted energy still can be felt  like a guardian angel accompanying the many photos of Abe with many movers and shakers.  My favorite picture is of Abe and his wife Eleanor with Dustin Hoffman.  Lynn spoke lovingly of Eleanor saying she was such a down to earth woman that when she came to eat you would never know she was Abe's wife.

I  remember being greeted warmly by Abe every time I stopped in.

I also remember when my Uncle passed away I stopped in the Deli when it was really on 2nd Avenue Deli and I need to get a tin of rugelah  and I couldn't reach the shelf high above the counter and a big young teddy bear NYPD officer reached up and got a tin for me.

I do believe one day the NYPD will solve this crime. Call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477); Text "TIP577" (plus your message) to "CRIMES" ( 274637); Submit Internet Tips · rss Subscribe to NYPD Most Wanted RSS ...
www.nyc.gov/nypd   There is a park by St. Marks Church near where the original deli was dedicated to Abe's memory.

I interviewed Jack, Abe's brother asking him when did Abe open the deli?

Jack did the math.  Abe was born in 1931.  He was 23 years old when he opened the del with 2 partners.  Shortly there after they bought out one partner and in the 1960's Abe bought out the other partner becoming the sole owner with soul serving Jewish Soul Food!!!!  Those are my words, not Jacks! I am heavily into soul.

By the way I asked Lynn if you had any celebrity stories I could blog about and she said,
No, discretion is the greater part of valor!   I asked Jack as well....similiar response but the walls are filled with photos of celebrities, NY characters, politicians, sport stars & their owners as well as Yiddish theatre stars!!!!!

Lynn is the official Jewish Mother on the premises and decided since my tummy hurt I was to have ginger ale, no ice, no straw and that I must slowly sip my soda.  She recommended kasha varniskes for me.

My Dad is the true driving force that brings me to 2nd Avenue Deli.  We  had a great time.  I did because I love my Dad as well as the Jewish soul food.

Time Square Bomb Scare post by Suzannah B. Troy

First and foremost highest praise for the NYPD for their response and handling of what appears to be some kind of crude amateurish bomb that could have  harmed innocent people if it had gone off.    A t-shirt vendor heard some suspicious noises and alerted police and highest praise for a civilian coming forward.

Here in NYC we have signs in the subways and else where always alerting us if we see something suspicious to alert the NYPD and in this case someone did just that and helped prevent would could have been a terrible tragedy.

I am signed up on the Notify NY program with the City of New York so I get a text messages and emails alerting me but it gave no details, just police activity and that the area was closed off.  The t-shirt vendor alerted police at 6:30 but I got my text, May 2 at 12:50AM, still I am glad to get it and glad Notify NY is up and working.

I wrote Commissioner Kelly asking if the NYPD could actually have a more extended notification system than this, that alerts New Yorkers about crimes that could help us to be even safer and give info if the NYPD need help catching a criminal by texting the people a description.  I am critical of the mayor for denying us a referendum and pushing a reckless tsunami of development but as far as 311 which needs work in terms of the city actually solving problems rather than answering calls and Notifying NY,the ideas are good, both need work.

Also here in NYC the 911 system has been overhauled,  called the UCT Dispatch System  and there are major problems especially alerting the FDNY and EMS  that still need addressing but last night all was good and every system worked as it should thank goodness!!!

Today thankfully we have a happy ending.  The NYPD are going to find the person responsible I am sure and that person will be spending some quality time in jail.  Thank goodness no one was hurt and many people that were there so see Broadway shows got first hand New York City Street Theatre for free.

Here is video from The New York Post.

Again highest praise for the NYPD.  Also for anyone interested here is a YouTube made by the NYPD about their amazing Bomb Squad check it out.   Personally, I have to say I am in awe.  I also got to speak to one of these officers and asked him some questions including about his gorgeous dog w/ a badge, a four legged NYPD officer which was "a bomb" - as in a good and wonderful experience for me.  Here is the slang dictionary for bomb being cool! http://onlineslangdictionary.com/definition+of/bomb,+the

If you have seen the Oscar awarding winning film Hurt Locker than you will recognize the safety clothing these brave officers wear so watch this YouTube!

Also for NYPD buffs -- Do you know who created The Bomb Squad?

I have been told that Lt.  Joseph (Giuseppi) Petrosino created The Bomb Squad and he did so because he was fighting the Black Hand who were setting off explosives here in NYC.

I found this comment posted to back up what I was told by an NYPD officer after 9-11 and also what I have read in the internet.

Lt. Petrosino's memory lives on in infamy. He was responsible for forming the NYPD Bomb Squad along with being the leader of the "Italian Squad". Lt. Petrosino went after "The Black Hand" and early form of the "Mafia" as we know it today. He stood for all that is good about Italian-American's and gave his life defending his belief. I have had the privilege to meet and work with his Granddaughter who is director of Bishop Kearney high school in Brooklyn's 66 Pct. May we never forget his ultimate sacrifice. God Bless.
— Det. John D'Onofrio

Lt. Joseph (Giuseppi) Petrosino was the 1st NYPD officer to die in the line of duty abroad.  Here is a YouTube where I take you on a short tour of a special exhibition at the NY Police Museum honoring Lt. Petrosino.   An Italian film maker is making a new film about him but there are have been others including a Hollywood film starring  Ernest Borgnine playing Lt. Petrosino called "Pay or Die".

In this YouTube I show you an NYPD pin I was given with Lt. Petrosino's badge number.  I treasure this pin and I thought I lost in Grand Central Station.  The pin had fallen in to my bag and a kind man got on his hands and knees along with me to find the back of the pin which he did as many people busily past us.

St. Vincent's Shocker!!! post by Suzannah B. Troy

Above is Yetta Kurland who almost beat city council speaker Christine Quinn who like Mike Bloomberg barely won her seat back the way mayor Mike Bloomberg spent the most obscene amount of money ever in NYC history, close to 110 million dollars for the most humiliating win and tainted because the people of New Yorker were denied a referendum! Well Yetta Kurland, a Civil Rights lawyer and community activist is going strong and full out for the community as is she had won the city council seat and this short YouTube above gives you some insight in the fact St. Vincent's may be closing but it is not a closed case! This YouTube is called "St. Vincent's Shocker. A nurse gives an extremely moving and rousing speech. She calls for a revolution. She says you people need a revolution downtown. She conjurs up the 1960's!!!   This is a very rousing speech and I agree. We need to tell the politicians this is just not good enough!!!!
I think of Peter Finch in Network! "I am as mad as hell and I am not going to take it anymore!"
The speaker speaks up about the concerns that nurses may not get their pensions, that some  nurses had checks that bounced and more shocking details that are red flags. Someone yells out Enron. Some now unemployed and tried to apply unemployment and were denied. The nurse calls out for a Federal Investigation. Please watch this you. Dr. David Kaufman explains why we need an emergency room and he points out too many people use the emergency room for non-emergencies. He doesn't mention that many people do so  because they have no health insurance. By the way St. Vincent's never turned anyone away according to what I was told. These YouTubes are deeply moving and I hope you will watch them. "The St. Vincent's Shocker" is a must see. Very shocking and I do hope a Federal Investigation does happen!  Even more I wish for a late in the 9th Inning miracle that the hospital is re-opened but for now it looks like a dead issue and I don't know what the people of the neighborhood will do! We need this hospital bailed out more than any bank!

New York beats back Arizona post by Suzannah B. Troy

Thousands of workers and immigrants demanding FULL RIGHTS NOW and people supporting equal rights, human rights and standing up to what they feel is racism showed up at Union Square to protest Arizona's stance on immigrants as well as attend the the 6th Annual May Day March starting at Union Square which was jammed packed with protestors and all with shoppers at the Farmers Market so I took photos of protest walking through the market as well a very brief clip of just how crowded the protest is and it is going very strong even as I post this.
I was sent an email from the organizers that also used facebook and the attendance was very strong and people of all ages including parents with small children holding flags.
Protestors walking thru the Farmers Market and believe me this photo and the others give you no idea of just how crowded the area was and is and also how hot it is today! New York is overwhelming liberal and there were no counter-protestors in site just shoppers buying lilacs and fresh fruits in contrast to the many immigrant workers that showed up with their family members and lots of supporters.

Two massive disasters Eco-disaster and Economic posted by Suzannah B. Troy

This newest terrible oil spill is an eco-diaster beyond what people maybe understanding and it is heartbreaking but also here in NY,  the budgetary crisis is devastating as well and we maybe moving from a recession to a depression.    The oil spill is worse because entire populations of sea life maybe obliterated but both are nightmares as far as I am concerned and should never have happened.

The economic crisis  here and for the country is not being  addressed effectively and I am sure it will have world wide tremors but here in NY Albany's politicos can't get it through their thick skull how actually devastating this economic crisis is and refuse to work together to close the budget crisis.  President Obama did inherit a disaster but here in NY it has been more the making of Albany and City Hall and they are not doing anything effectively to address the problem.  Most New Yorkers see politicians as corrupt fat cats...not all but many.

We also have an accidental governor who is not a strong leader or one with integrity who should have resigned quite a while ago and I am guessing he spends a lot of time on the phone with his defense attorney because of all the scandals, at least 3 significant ones that make him an even more ineffectual leader if that was possible.

Both the eco-diaster -- this massive oil spill and this economic disaster are hard to wrap one's mind around.  The nature disaster is a travesty beyond words and comprehension but this economic disaster means even more people lay-offed and more pay-cuts, more closings, quality of life here in NYC continuing to spiral downward.  I continue to ask is City Council unvoting themselves a raise.

How did I know this and the mayor seemed not to know this and he made promises and brokered deals to win or steal his third term which would further bankrupt NYC as he gave away or spent over a hundred million dollars with sub-zero trickle down.  Mike Bloomberg is also in big trouble with his spending close to a million dollars that he  can't account for to buy his third term and this is being investigated by an appointee of Cy Vance's as well as Mike Bloomberg's association and continue loyalty to Steve Rattner who has essentially been blamed for anything and all things corrupt with Quadrangle and the pension fund scandals.  Of course Rattner says he is innocent although his own firm, Quadrangle disavowed him and of course Rattner will just pay some hefty fine by real peoples' standards but small change for him and no jail time or even a guilty plea.  In the US if you are rich, a celebrity, a politico or well connected you get to plead no contest.

All this spells disasters that will be affecting people and the eco-diaster the planet for a long time.
