Sam McGuffie, Oakland Raider, US Bobsled Team Member, Joins CCIG Tiger Rugby Las Vegas - Sam McGuffie, the legendary multi-sport athlete with 4.3-40 yard-dash speed who was a walk-on with the Oakland Raiders in 2013, has just completed his rookie outing as a member of the USA Bobsled Team for the 2018 Winter Olympics, and is flying to Las Vegas to join CCIG Tiger Rugby at the Las Vegas Invitational Sevens. While his stories of how he became an Oakland Raider and how he earned a spot on the USA Bobsled Team are known, what's not known is how Sam became a member of CCIG Tiger Rugby. Sam approached The Tiger Rugby Academy (http://ift.tt/2oA8wbe) on a scholarship having never played Rugby. In the upcoming years Sam played for 1823 (stands for players from 18-23 years). A feeder Rugby academy route to USA Rugby honors for World cups and Olympic sevens. Mr. McGuffie became the Top try scorer in his first season playing rugby for the Tiger Rugby Academy. Sam was also named one of the all star players at USA Club nationals. The 5'11, 210 pound Mr. Mc Guffie's rugby position is on the wing and centre. As this is written, Sam has left the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games to fly directly to the Las Vegas Rugby sevens and represent the USA based Team “CCIG Tigers”. About Sam McGuffie (from Wikipedia): Samuel Terrence McGuffie (born October 16, 1989) is an American bobsledder for the US men's national team, a former Oakland Raiders running back and wide receiver, and rugby player with CCIG Tiger Rugby. Sam was a walk on with the Oakland Raiders in 2013, and then was a practice squad player for the Arizona Cardinals and later the New England Patriots.
