Oakland Minimum Wage Went Up To $13.23 Per Hour January 1, 2018 - Video
Oakland Minimum Wage Went Up To $13.23 Per Hour January 1, 2018 Oakland, CA (Press Release) Oakland’s Measure FF, a voter enacted ballot measure passed in November 2014 provides annual increases to Oakland’s Minimum Wage based on the local Consumer Price Index (CPI). Effective January 1, 2018, the rate rises 37¢, from $12.86 to $13.23 per hour. The law also requires that employers inform employees of the increase by December 15, 2017. To assist employers, the City of Oakland has posted notification posters at http://ift.tt/2Eee3ut. Many cities and states across the nation have enacted minimum wage laws so that workers may earn a wage that will allow them to provide for themselves and their families. Oakland voters spoke at the ballot box by resoundingly passing Measure FF with an 82% majority in November 2014. Regionally, several cities have also enacted minimum wage laws. San Francisco’s minimum wage is currently $14.00 per hour and Emeryville’s is $14.00 per hour for Small Businesses and $15.20 per hour for Large Businesses. “Raising the minimum is the right thing to do and helps all Oakland workers,” said Mayor Libby Schaaf. “It also supports our local shops and economy when residents earn a respectable wage. As we continue to fight the cost of living crisis in our region, raising the minimum wage is the morally responsible thing to do.” Link: http://ift.tt/2F6OgWo

Jon Gruden 10-Year $100 Million Deal From Oakland Raiders Makes Team Target For Every NFL Coach
Jon Gruden 10-Year $100 Million Deal From Oakland Raiders Makes Team Target For Every NFL Coach - Video
Jon Gruden 10-Year $100 Million Deal From Oakland Raiders Makes Team Target For Every NFL Coach The news that Oakland Raiders Owner Mark Davis plans to pay Jon Gruden $10 million a year for 10 years, or $100 million, may seem like too much money, and from the on-field standpoint, it is. But off-field, it's a smart move. I talked about why in my last vlog, now let me explain the on-field part. Jon Gruden as a head coach is not worth $100 million because he's not done anything at all to advance the game of football. He's not Bill Walsh, and doesn't even hold the mantle of being the coach that advanced Walsh's concepts: that award belongs to now former Packers Coach Mike Holmgren and current Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy. Gruden may have coached and helped a number of college players since he was out of football, but there's no evidence he's learned any of the new systems that have propelled the college and the high school game past the NFL game. Spread attacks. Read options. Inverted Veer Read Option. Blends of West Coast Offense and Run N Shoot. Spread Wing T. I could go on and on. The game has evolved in such a way that what were once one-play formations in the past, are now full and complete offensive systems to themselves. What will Gruden do? What has he learned. The World has advanced beyond Spider Two, Y-Banana. Today, it's a group of folks on the sidelines, one holding a photo of a banana, and the other a photo of a Spider for that, play, then doing something else – all to the objective of running a no-huddle system. Also, Gruden will get everry NFL coaches “A” game. You will see every trick play in the book thrown at the Raiders, and every underhanded tactic known in football and some not known. Remember, we have New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick out there and Cleveland Browns Head Coach Hue Jackson, who's desperate to prove himself this year. You think they're not licking their chops? You think they're not calling all of their spies, er, friends, right now? Stay tuned.

Stay tuned.

Jon Gruden 10-Year $100 Million Deal From Oakland Raiders Sounds Las Vegas, But Mark Davis Was Smart The news that Oakland Raiders Owner Mark Davis plans to pay Jon Gruden $10 million a year for 10 years, or $100 million, may seem like too much money, and from the on-field standpoint, it is. But off-field, it's a smart move. Jon Gruden is the only coach in NFL history to be associated with a purchasable meme: Chucky. Davis, the creator of The Raider Image stores when the team was in Los Angeles, obviously sees that hiring Gruden marks the return of a man who's very style was crafted when he was with the Oakland Raiders. Here comes Chucky. Davis knows that the first game, and the first NFL season, with Gruden as head coach will result in sell-out crowds, higher season ticket and luxury box sales. And that's even if Gruden doesn't deliver the won-loss record the fans believe he will generate. All of this factors in to the team's overall worth. This helps the Raiders franchise value a little – a new stadium helps better – but it certainly will cause a jump? By how much? I would say that with merchandize sales, suites and tickets, the Raiders will make the $100 million expenditure back over that 10 year period. It will be large at first, and then diminish as the time passes, but they will get it back. Of course, Davis has to do some things to make sure of that: the Raiders, and I'm not joking, should be making their own Chucky dolls. At $40 a doll, all the Oakland Raiders need to do is sell about 250,000 a year to pay Gruden's $10 million salary. Here comes Chucky!

Tony Serra To Represent GarcÃa Zarate In Katie Steinle-Related Federal Charges
Tony Serra To Represent GarcÃa Zarate In Katie Steinle-Related Federal Charges - Video
Tony Serra To Represent GarcÃa Zarate In Katie Steinle-Related Federal Charges San Francisco (Press Release) —Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, who was found not guilty in the death of Kate Steinle, will be represented by renowned San Francisco attorney J. Tony Serra on federal gun charges. Jurors on Nov. 30 found Garcia Zarate not guilty of murder, involuntary manslaughter, and assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the July 2015 shooting on Pier 14. He was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm and is expected to be sentenced to time served on Friday, then released to federal authorities. Serra will attend the sentencing, along with San Francisco Public Defender Jeff Adachi. A federal grand jury indicted Garcia Zarate on Dec. 5 for being a felon on possession of a firearm and ammunition and being an “illegally present alien” in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Matt Gonzalez, chief attorney of the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office and Garcia Zarate’s lawyer in the state case, said Garcia Zarate “couldn’t be in better hands” with Serra. “Mr. Garcia Zarate is grateful to have been exonerated of murder, as he has no history of violence. He is also grateful to Tony Serra for taking his case.” Jurors acquitted Garcia Zarate after a month-long trial in which forensic evidence showed the bullet that struck Steinle was a ricochet fired from 100 feet away. There was no evidence Garcia Zarate stole the gun or brought it to the pier, and he has no history of theft. The firearm belonged to a federal ranger who had left it unsecured in his personal vehicle, which was then burglarized. “There was clear and overwhelming evidence presented at trial that this tragic shooting was an accident,” Gonzalez said. “The federal government is free to spend more time and resources on this case, but the facts have not changed. I predict a properly instructed jury will acquit Mr. Garcia Zarate in federal court.” It is expected that Serra will seek to have the new charges dismissed based on double jeopardy concerns and the Trump Administration’s politically motivated, vindictive prosecution.

Jon Gruden, Oakland Raiders Head Coach To Be, Backed Avis Davidson Black GOP, Tampa City Council
Jon Gruden, Oakland Raiders Head Coach To Be, Backed Avis Davidson Black GOP, Tampa City Council - Video
Jon Gruden, Oakland Raiders Head Coach To Be, Backed Avis Davidson Black Republican For Tampa City Council Jon Gruden, Oakland Raiders Head Coach to be, not only is listed as a registered Republican, but also has been active in supporting GOP candidates even for local office. Indeed, from my research to date, which I admit has not been extensive, I have been able to determine that Gruden is far more active in politics than his would-be predecessor Jack Del Rio – save for the fact that both are Republican. Del Rio's GOP leanings came out twice: in his Twitter-based defense of Fox News Commentator Sean Hannity May 24th 2017, and in Del Rio's wife Linda's tweet that she “regrets” voting for Donald Trump. (And we have to ask if Coach Del Rio talked her into that pick, since he's apparently such a fan of the right-wing Sean Hannity?) Beyond that, there's no obvious listing for the pair in the area of political donations and fundraiders. But that's not true for Jon Gruden. ESPN Analyst Jon Gruden held a fundraiser for an African American former school teacher, who's also Republican, Avis Davidson, in 2016. Ms. Davidson ran for an open seat on the Tampa Bay City Council. To help her raise money, the Gruden's, Jon and Cindy, held an event at their home Thursday, September 8th, 2016. Their, the Grudens' raised $8,000 for Ms. Davidson's campaign. Unfortunately, she lost a very close race for the spot by just 65 votes – and even though she was out-raised by her opponents, Gruden's star-power gave her great visibility. But the fact here is Jon Gruden has been active in helping GOP party election hopefuls seek office, regardless of color. Why is this important? To ask that at a time just after the NFL Protests is a real head-scratcher. It opens up a lot of questions: given the political leanings of Gruden and Del Rio, is the National Football League, in total, a sports organization that consists of mostly white GOP-favoring head coaches directing mostly black Democrat-leaning players? Is the reason why the Rooney Rule (which says that an NFL team must interview a minority coach for a head coach or assistant coach position) given only lip service because of a buddy system where white, conservative, coaches back their friends - unless they happen to know of a black coach who's Republican? All of those questions are on the table. Given that Diddy, Step Curry, and Colin Kaepernick want to buy the Carolina Panthers to combat institutional racism, this information becomes supremely important. Stay tuned.
