But off-field, it's a smart move. I talked about why in my last vlog, now let me explain the on-field part. Jon Gruden as a head coach is not worth $100 million because he's not done anything at all to advance the game of football. He's not Bill Walsh, and doesn't even hold the mantle of being the coach that advanced Walsh's concepts: that award belongs to now former Packers Coach Mike Holmgren and current Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy. Gruden may have coached and helped a number of college players since he was out of football, but there's no evidence he's learned any of the new systems that have propelled the college and the high school game past the NFL game.
