City Of Oakland Budget Only Enhances Homeless Problem - Video
City Of Oakland Budget Only Enhances Homeless Problem I saw this on the email that my Oakland Councilmember sent and shook my head: that Oakland was committing just $2 million to the homeless problem, and $1.77 million to, well, read this: "$2 million to address the homelessness crisis to keep encampments cleaner and safer, create a navigation center to more quickly help unsheltered residents transition into permanent housing, and provide more service enriched shelters for families and commercially sexually exploited children, $1.77 million for anti-displacement legal services, housing counseling and emergency rental assistance," That can be described in one word: underfunded. The City of Oakland will only make sure that the homeless experience is more, er, bearable - and do nothing at all to stop the market forces causing it. This is shameful.
